Previously known data:
02/29/1804
The married couple Heinrich Lappessen and Anna Maria Essers sign a deed of donation for the house, barn and a quarter of an acre of land with the Hardterbroich community. Actually, it is a real sales contract with usufruct. The donors receive 25 Reichstaler and the children Lappessen and their descendants are taught free of charge. The condition is that the barn, in which school has already been held, must be demolished by the sellers within two years.
1809
The first school building will probably be erected on the site of the barn at this time.
1842
Since the school was in a damp lowland, work on the school building and the teacher's apartment had to be carried out from the start. After a tough struggle, 1,094 thalers were approved for a new building with two classes in 1842.
1857
A plot of land for the playground is also bought.
1860
The establishment of a third class is rejected by the royal district administrator.
1861
176 children are taught in two classes. (Headmaster: Stuhlweissenburg, auxiliary teacher: Pecks)
1870
the extension is completed.
1872
300 students attend the school.
1888
Many factory workers came from the Eifel and Moselle regions. The streets in the "river district" still bear witness to the origins of the residents. Therefore, the school was expanded to include a fourth grade in 1888. From now on the children will be taught in all-boys and girls classes.
1908
The construction of today's school building begins. The school now has 7 grades and 11 classrooms.
Easter 1913
923 children in 16 classes attend the school.
1927
Due to unemployment (families moving away) and the falling number of children (“only” 8 to 10 children per family), the number of pupils fell. Only 527 children are now in the 14 classes at the time.
Second world war
There are no records as the chronicle was lost during World War II. It is known, however, that from 1938 the school also served as a home for the Hitler Youth.
The school was so badly destroyed by incendiary and high-explosive bombs that lessons were not possible. The old building on Schulstrasse was so destroyed that it had to be demolished.
1945
With the most modest means, teaching was resumed in a class in the new building from 1908.
Winter 1945/46
Lessons have to be interrupted again due to lack of coal. The children only come to school this winter and the following winter to receive their homework and a plate of warm soup.
1950
All eleven rooms of the school can be used again. The school is now a Catholic elementary school.
1959
Extensive renovation work began. It developed into the school building we know today.
08/01/1968
In the course of the school reform, the Catholic primary school is now being converted into the Catholic Primary School Hardterbroich. All children have to attend secondary school after the fourth year of school. The Pesch community elementary school moved into the vacant rooms. From now on, two primary schools will share the schoolhouse.
1979/1980
A sharp drop in the number of students made new considerations necessary. Therefore, according to the wishes of the school committee, the three Catholic primary schools Hardterbroich, Pesch and Heinrich Lersch should be moved together in the Charlottenstrasse building, and the Hardterbroich community primary school should move into the smaller building on Alleestrasse. After 170 years there should no longer be a school in the Hardterbroich district.
1980/81
The involvement of the parents in both primary schools meant that on 01/01/1980 the Catholic and community primary schools were combined to form the “community primary school Schulstrasse” and the school was retained.
From 1983
The number of students is gradually increasing again. In 1984 180 children attended school in nine classes.
1996/97
Due to the increasing number of pupils, an extension is necessary in which two more classes can be accommodated.
October 1998
Foundation of the "Association of Friends and Supporters of the Schulstrasse Community Primary School", in short: Support Association.
1999
The "care from 8 to 1" is established within the framework of the "reliable school" with the help of the school's sponsorship association. For this, considerable renovation work was necessary again. The staff room, which until then had been housed in a classroom on the first floor, moved to the top floor. The expansion of the attic could only be realized with the active support of parents. The care department moved into the space that became free. The room was prepared again through the work of the parents (drawing in a gallery, installing a kitchen corner, painting ...).
02/01/2009
Expansion of the care offer until 4 p.m.
A computer room can be set up through the involvement of the parents.
2010
the school is three-class. In this anniversary year, 265 boys and girls in eleven classes attended the Schulstrasse community primary school. “Common lessons” (GU) take place in the school; this means that disabled and non-disabled children are schooled together. 15 teachers and 3 teachers teach the children. There is care from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and an extended offer until 4 p.m. The care is used by a total of 58 children.
2012
Once again there is a reason to celebrate: 87 parents of the school have picked up spades, Bosch hammers, brushes and other tools: the former laundry room, a damp, inhospitable room, has been transformed into an attractive, homely care room in cooperation with the school caretaker and the sponsoring association . Because the space available is far too tight for the 81 children being cared for. The laundry room moves to the first half-floor and is now in exemplary condition.
